Sizing Guide

To help find the size that fits you best, you should measure your bust, waist, shoulder and hips. You can find a size guide on each of our products to match these measurements to.

It is best to measure in your underwear or in tight fitting clothing, so that your clothing doesn't interfere with the measurements. It is easiest to use a flexible tape measure for this task, but it is also possible to measure with a piece of string by marking it and then measuring the result with a ruler.

It can be difficult to know exactly where on your body to measure, so we've created the the chart below to help.

How To Measure Your Bust

The key point here is to measure around the widest part of your chest. Its best to keep your bra on for this measurement as you'll likely be wearing one under your qipao or tang suit.

To measure, lift your arms and wrap the tape under your armpits and around your chest. You should be measuring at the widest part of your chest, across both nipples.

How to Measure Your Waist

The waist measurement in most sizing guides refer to your "natural waist". This is often the narrowest part of your waist, but not always.

To find your natural waist, feel for the soft section between the top of your hips and the bottom of your rib cage. If you lean side to side, it will be the point around which your body pivots.

Breathe out normally and measure in a circle all the way around your waist. Make sure the tape measure is straight and untwisted, particularly at the back where you can't see. The tape should be snug around your torso, but it shouldn't dig into your skin.

How to Measure Your Hips

Hip measurements are often taken incorrectly, as many assume the measurement should be taken at your hip bones - this is not true. The correct place to measure is across your bottom at its widest point. You should stand with your feet directly below your hips for an accurate measurement.

It's a good idea hold the tape lightly and sit and then stand again when taking the measurement. This will ensure that your dress or skirt is sized so that you can sit down comfortably.

How to Measure Your Shoulders

This measurement is ideally taken from the back, so its much easier to take if you have a helper.

The first step is to have your helper find your acromion bones. These are the small bony lumps on top of your shoulders. You can find them by running your finger along the top of your shoulder until you feel a bump.

Next, have your helper stretch the measuring tape across your back, from one acromion bone to the other. Make sure the tape measure is straight.

What If I'm Between Sizes?

If you fall between two measurements, you might find it difficult to decide which to pick. Generally if you're very close to a size, you should pick that one. Most products are designed with a little wiggle room or stretch. In the case where you're roughly in the middle of the two, you should consider the garment you're buying and how you want it to fit.

If you're buying one of our Qipao / Cheongsam dresses or swimwear, you may want to pick the larger of the two sizes, as they're generally designed to fit tightly to the measurement for that flattering, form hugging look.

If you're buying one of our Chinese Tang suits, on the other hand, you may want to pick the smaller size, to ensure modernity and avoid the oversized "Dad's suit" look.

What if my Top and Bottom Sizes Are Different?

You might find that you measurements for a top/bottom set or dress/jacket pair aren't the same. We've designed our sets so that the sizing of one of the pieces is more forgiving for this reason.

For a Dress & Jacket set, you should choose your size based on the dress, because the Jackets are not tight fitting and are designed with some flexibility in mind.

For a Jacket & Skirt set, you will generally want to size based on the skirt for the same reason.
