About Us
Kate and Jack at their University Graduation
Who are we?
The story of Kate Yang started long before the business launched in 2025, when founders Kate and Jack met and fell in love while studying at the University of Sheffield. Business was a big part of Kate's life growing in Guangdong, China and led to her travelling to the UK to study the subject. Jack, from rural Hertfordshire, had long been interested in computing and technology and went on to study Computer Science and eventually work in web development.
As Kate stayed longer in the UK, she started to miss elements of her life back home. She found herself wanting to reconnect with her culture and looked for a way to buy qipao online, only to find that all the available options were poor quality or required lengthy shipping from abroad. This was the beginning of the idea for Kate Yang.
The Founding of Kate Yang
Years later, while visiting her family in China, Kate found herself inspired once again. She wanted the comfort and beauty of traditional clothing back to the UK when she returned and to share that connection with others who might feel disconnected from their culture. Kate's business knowledge and Jack's technical skills were a perfect combination to bring that dream to life through an online store, and so Kate Yang was launched in February 2025.
